Jeffrey Ross Vance, age 53, of Edwards died Sunday, March 12, 2017, at his home. Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at Edwards Cemetery with Pastor Phillip Williams officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton.
Mr. Vance was born on February 9, 1964, in Jackson, MS. He graduated from Central Hinds Academy and immediately joined his father in the sand and gravel business. He was an owner/operator for Vance Sand and Gravel for many years. In his early to mid adult life, he was an outdoorsman and an avid fisherman and hunter. He had an infectious personality and never met a stranger. He was loved by his friends, family, and was affectionately known as Papaw to his two grandchildren.
Survivors include his fiance, Rose Hill of Edwards, two sons, Jeffrey Vance of Brandon, and Matthew Vance of Raymond. His mother, Millie Vance Riser of Clinton, and a sister, Kim Arthur Trigg and her husband Clifton, of Raymond. Two grandchildren, Parker and Paislee, of Edwards, and their mother, Teesha Hill, also of Edwards. A nephew Andrew Arthur and his wife Madeline, of Raymond and a niece, Jennifer Ard and her husband Josh, of Clinton. He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Ross Vance and brother in law, Jimmy Arthur.
