Obituary

Jeffrey "Jeff" Lee Naggs, 74, died February 13, 2026 in Clinton, MS of cardiac arrest.  Jeff was born in Plano, Illinois on March 11, 1951 and lived there until he moved to southeast Texas in the late 1970s.

Jeff was a member of the Plano High School class of 1967 and lived in Plano, Illinois with his wife and three daughters, Nichole, Tracee, and Summer, until the late 1970s when he divorced and moved to Port Arthur, Texas. There he was employed by the petroleum industry working on oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico. After an injury forced him to leave that line of work, he found work as a handy man and carpenter. In 1982, he married his second wife, Tammy with whom he had two children, Lacey and Jeffrey. They later divorced and in 1996, he married his third wife, Claudette. They continued living in the Port Arthur area until 2021, during which time Jeff worked as a highly respected carpenter and landscaper. In 2021 as their health declined, he and Claudette moved to Memphis, TN and then Clinton, MS to be closer to family.

Jeff was well loved by his family and friends. He was a kind and soft-spoken man with a tremendous amount of patience. He was easy to be with and quick with a laugh or plan for some fun. He loved the outdoors and spent as much time as he could working his huge garden and puttering around in his barn. He was an eternal optimist and unafraid of hard work. Fishing on Sabine Lake in his boat was one of his greatest joys and a long day of fishing with a good buddy was his idea of a good time. He was also well-known for working magic in the kitchen and countless memories were made around meals that he grilled on the barbeque pit.  There was little Jeff could not do with regard to home improvement, inside or outside. He loved birds and built beautiful purple martin houses to place in his yard in addition to numerous bird feeders. He always had a dog at his heels that worshipped the ground he walked on.

Jeff is survived by his children, Nichole Gonzalez (Marcos) of Marseilles, IL, Tracee Leitner (Scott) of Earlville, IL, Summer Beyer (Josh) of Sandwich, IL, and Lacey Naggs of Beaumont, Texas; sister, Dian Laur;  Step-children,  Sherri Ottis (Steve) of Clinton, MS; Roger Greene (Brittnee) of Melissa, TX, and Kristine Laterra of Kountze, TX; twelve grandchildren, and 7 great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Claudette Naggs, son, Jeffrey Lee Naggs, Jr.; parents, Arthur and Dorothy (Skwinski) Naggs, and brother, Arthur "Skip" Naggs, Jr.

Jeff was a good and loyal friend to many and those who loved him greatly miss his generosity and love of fun. He was always up for an adventure, and his kids, step-kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids have wonderful memories of fun times with "Pepa Jeff"/"Grandpa Shrimp."
