Janice "Sissy" Mabus, 68, was healed of an earthly disease as she entered the gates of Heaven on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2020 surrounded by her family.
Sissy was born on March 18, 1952 in Greenwood, MS to AA and Jonne Williams Mabus. Sissy attended East Tallahatchie High School and Delta State University. She worked as an insurance adjuster for Allstate, AIG, and Nationwide Insurance prior to her retirement. Her greatest calling was to be known as Grams to her grandsons, Braxton and Amzie. Her grandsons were her greatest joy and she never missed an opportunity to spend time with them from family outings to school events to the baseball fields.
Ms. Mabus was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her daughter, Leigh (Jason) Cochran of Brandon, grandsons Braxton Wells and Amzie Cochran of Brandon. She is also survived by sisters Peggy (Jerry) Crowe and Lynda Phillips of Philadelphia, and brothers Jimmy (Susan) Mabus of Macel and David Mabus of Charleston as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and prayer warriors.

Due to CDC restrictions, the family asks those that wish to pay tribute to line the parking lot near the cross along the road at Pinelake at 1:45 p.m. prior to the graveside service as the family passes through her church home.

A family graveside service and burial will be held at Lakeland Place Garden Park Cemetery on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at 2:00 pm.

Pallbearers will be her nephews David Crowe, Jonathan Crowe, Chad Crowe, Bryce Phillips, Matt Mabus and Clint Mabus.

The family would like to express their love and gratitude to Dr Veda and staff, Sharon Dobson, Palladium Hospice, and her family and friends for their care and support during her illness.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to Team Gleason to help others in their battle with ALS.
