Janice Marie DeHart, 60, of Jackson, Mississippi, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2023 at St. Dominic's Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi.

Janice was born in Columbus, Mississippi in 1963 to Henry Thomas DeHart Jr. and Sarah Elizabeth Caldwell DeHart.  She was a graduate of Annunciation Catholic elementary school and Caldwell High School where she was the valedictorian of her senior class. She was an honors graduate from Mississippi University for Women with a double degree in math and microbiology. Following graduation, Janice completed the medical technology curriculum at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi.

Employed as a medical technician for St. Dominic's Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi for over thirty years, Janice had retired in 2021.

Janice was a loving and involved aunt to her nieces and nephews.  She also loved her dogs who were her faithful companions when she was not working.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Sarah Caldwell DeHart; her brother, Ronnie DeHart; and a nephew, Matthew DeHart.   She is survived by her siblings, Henry Thomas DeHart III and his wife, Lynn, of Ocala, Florida; Michael J. DeHart and his wife, Alice, of Cave Springs, Arkansas; Dianne DeHart, of Rogers, Arkansas; Carol Bruce and her husband, Kent, of Jackson, Mississippi; nieces and nephews, Zane, Ian and Mia Bruce; Sarah DeHart Culpepper, Robby DeHart, Kim DeHart Jackson, Brad DeHart; and several great-nieces and nephews.

A private family burial is planned for Friday, June 16, 2023 at Memorial Gardens in Columbus, Mississippi. In lieu of flowers, please make any donations to a local animal shelter or rescue of your choice.
