James Curtis Thomas, 96, passed away in Jackson on Friday, December 24, 2021. Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, Cliff and Nancy Thomas, wife Martha Ann Thomas, grandson Billy "Bear" Williams II, brothers Tom Thomas, Clarence Thomas and Dean Thomas and sisters Louise Poole and Lucille Lockley.
He is survived by his children Beverely Ann (Billy) Williams, Curtis "Gene" (Theresa) Thomas, Jimmy (Tracy) Thomas, Billy (Pam) Thomas; 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Curtis worked as an installer with BellSouth for 34 years, only missing one day of work during that time. He served in the US Navy aboard the USS Hornet and was a member of MHBC for 31 years. Curtis was hard working, loved hunting and fishing, he also worked and served others until he was 90 years old But most of all he was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
The family would like to offer special thanks to the Staff of the VA Nursing Home, Brookdale Senior Living and Kindred Hospice.
Visitation for Curtis will be held on Monday, December 27, 2021 at Morrison Heights Baptist Church from 9:00am to 11:00am, followed by a service at 11:00am. A graveside service will follow at 2:30pm at the West Kemper Baptist Church Cemetery in De Kalb, MS.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Morrison Heights Baptist Church, 3000 Hampstead Blvd, Clinton, MS 39056.
