James Arkley
“Jim” Stepro, Jr.
October 20, 1938 – August 6, 2025
James Arkley Stepro, Jr., lovingly known as "Jim," passed away on August 6, 2025, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi. He was 86 years old and a resident of Brandon, MS, having moved there after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Prior to that, he was a longtime resident of Biloxi, Mississippi.
Jim was a man defined by kindness, humor, and deep devotion to his family. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, a chapter of his life he spoke of with great pride. After his military service, he built a meaningful life through his work as a carpenter and home builder—leaving behind a legacy of hard work, craftsmanship, and integrity.
He found joy in making people laugh and was known for his gentle, generous spirit. He was the kind of man who could fix anything, lighten any moment, and love without condition.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary P. Stepro; his sons, Robert, David, and Jason Stepro; his grandchildren Brandon, Parker, Aiden, Hailey, Landen, Wyatt, and Abigail; his great-grandchildren Ember, Layla, and Georgia; and his siblings, Friday, Ben, Louella, and Donna.
He was preceded in death by his father, James A. Stepro, Sr.; his mother, Mary W. Stepro; and his siblings, Hilbert and Lois.
Jim's presence was a quiet strength—steady, loving, and always generous. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were fortunate to know him.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Lakeland Place Memorial Park in Brandon, Mississippi. Friends and family are invited to attend.
