Obituary

Al "Pop" Putman
Al was born May 19, 1938, in Slate Springs, Mississippi to John Frank and Verna Mae Putman. He passed away peacefully on February 7, 2018, surrounded by his loving family after living a life well lived. Al graduated from Tech High School in Memphis, Tennessee. Upon graduation, he began a career in the automotive industry. He was employed for many years with Kimco Auto Products as a Regional Salesman, after which time he began his own business. He successfully established and maintained numerous automotive parts stores in the Jackson, Mississippi and surrounding areas for many years.
Upon deciding to retire, he pursued his interests of fishing, farming, following NASCAR racing, cheering for Ole Miss football, and fellowship with family and friends. A faithful servant of the Lord, he was a longtime member of Pinelake Church in Brandon, Mississippi. For many years he has recited the 23rd Psalm as part of his nightly devotion.
Al was preceded in death by his parents and brother, John Earl Putman.
He was a devoted, loving, and generous husband, father, grandfather and friend, and will be dearly missed. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Shirley Putman; son, Keith Putman (Joyce); daughter, Bonnie Putman; grandsons, Kyle Putman (Amanda), and Cole Putman; brother, Glen Putman (Dianne); many nieces and nephews; and faithful friends too numerous to count.
A special thanks to caregivers Felecia Partee and Fran Wohlgemuth, who provided invaluable assistance and support.
Visitation will be held Monday, February 12, 2018, at 10 a.m. at Wright and Ferguson Funeral home in Flowood, Mississippi, with services to follow in the Chapel at 11 a.m. Graveside burial services will be private.
