Holly Elizabeth
Young
December 2, 2005 – July 29, 2025
H olly E lizabeth Y oung, affectionately known as "HollyBug," entered this world on December 2, 2005, and left it far too soon on July 29, 2025, doing what she loved most. At just 19 years old, Holly had already made an extraordinary impact on the lives of those who knew her. Her spirit was wild, kind, adventurous, and full of life.
Holly had a deep love for animals and was always drawn to new adventures. She earned awards in the arts and excelled in equestrian sports, including show jumping, dressage, and cross-country riding. As a proud former 4-H member, she collected ribbons and recognition for her passion and dedication. She also gave back through volunteer work with Mississippi Horse Rescue, showing her heart for service.
Holly was a true thrill seeker. Some of her favorite things were skydiving, ziplining, and riding motorcycles. She recently finished her second semester at Hinds Community College and had planned to enter the Radiologic Technology Program. Earlier this year, she proudly purchased her beloved motorcycle, "Stomfly," and quickly found a second family in the biking community.
She is survived by an enormous circle of love:
Her mother, Elizabeth Ann Overcash, and stepfather, Jason Daniel Overcash;
Her sisters, Jenna Overcash and Pauline Teetzmann;
Her grandparents, Robert "Papaw" Burney and Connie "Mamaw" Burney, Dean Overcash ("Grandpa"), and Janice Overcash ("Grandma");
Her father, Robert Charles Young, and stepmother, Julie Ann Young;
Her siblings, Landyn and Emmet Young;
Her grandparents, Randy Charles Young ("Pooh") and Martha Langston Young ("Mimi"),
Jerry Kent McMurtrey ("Mackey") and Nancy Sullivan McMurtrey ("Nana").
In addition, she is loved by a multitude of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Holly's light was radiant, her laughter infectious, and her heart expansive. She leaves behind not just her family but a massive extended family in the biking and equestrian communities. Though our hearts are shattered, we take comfort in knowing she has set off on the greatest adventure of all, riding free with our Lord.
A visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home, 201 Hinds Blvd. Raymond, MS 39154. A private memorial service will be held by the family at a later date.
