Henry Gustav Louis Anderson, 100, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at Merit Health Hospital in Jackson, MS.
Visitation will be Friday, July 20, 2018 from 4:30-7 p.m. at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton, MS and at 10 a.m. at Hinds Independent Methodist Church in Raymond, MS. The funeral service is at 11 a.m. at the church with interment following at Lakewood Cemetery in Jackson, MS.
Mr. Anderson was born in 1918 in the house where he lived all his life to John Edward Anderson and Gerda Ekberg Anderson. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1936 where he was the first recipient of the Mississippi State Agriculture Award. This honor was based on rigorous and extensive knowledge of agriculture.
After graduation, he grew cotton, became a poultry producer, and beef cattle farmer. He received the Outstanding Cattle Producer Award of 1998 by the Hinds County Soil and Water Conservation District.
He served on the Board of Directors for Hinds County Cooperative, Farm Bureau of Hinds County, and was a member of the Hinds County Cattlemen's Association.
He was active in his church and was the Lay Leader for twenty years at Hinds Independent Methodist Church.
Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by his wife, Euretha Hughes Anderson, whom he married in 1940, and three sisters and three brothers. He is survived by his brother Walter Anderson of California; daughters Rita Anderson Karn (Richard) of NC and Margaret Anderson Jolly of Bolton; sons Donald W. Anderson and Ronald L. Anderson (Rita) of Bolton. Other survivors include his grandchildren, Clint Stephenson, Sharon Stephenson, Wilson Trotter, Glenn Trotter, Mark Anderson, Kevin Anderson, Janna Anderson Nance, Scott Anderson, and Sarah Anderson Jolly along with great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
