Gregory Ray Williams, 62, of Learned, passed away September 12, 2017 in Tampa, Florida surrounded by two special friends. Greg was born April 20, 1955, youngest child of Rosalie and George Jasper Williams who preceded him in death. Sister Shannon Gray Whitehead, brothers Leonard, Pete, and Mike Williams all preceded him in death. Greg Williams is a member of Utica Baptist Church.

He married Lise' Sorrill Williams August 4, 1979 in Jacksonville, IL. Children Bryan (Tiffany) and Jennifer along with his beloved grandchildren Mason and Riley Ann were the loves of his life. He loved being Pops.

Greg retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers after 32 years. Greg worked many FEMA missions and continued to do so as a civilian employee of True North. He was blessed to have a tightknit group of extended family on these missions. He graduated from Oklahoma Horseshoeing School and was a part time farrier for over 12 years.

Greg's passion was his family and encouraging them in all of their endeavors. He enjoyed horseback riding, team roping, and livestock shows. He was an avid supporter of 4-H programs, including livestock and horse judging in which he coached until his death. He also mentored young amputees on adapting to life as an amputee.

Other loving survivors include: sister-in-law's Shirly and Betty Williams, Melanie Cook (Don), Suzie Tucker, brother-in-law's Kevin and Dennis (Donna) Sorrill, aunts, uncles, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, grand nieces, and nephews. He leaves behind many cherished friends.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 20, 2017 from 4 to 7 pm at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Raymond. A memorial service will be held 11:00 am, Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Hinds Independent Methodist Church. Please join the family at the reception following the service in the Hinds Independent Methodist Fellowship Hall to share memories of Greg's life.
