Glenn Edward Pitts

Glenn Edward Pitts was known for his strong Christian values and his love of family. He was born in Jones, County, Mississippi, on October 26, 1930, to William Nowell Pitts and Alice Viola Nix Pitts. He went to be with the Lord on August 26, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones at home in Brandon, Mississippi.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents and brothers James, Dee, Dayton, and Max Pitts.

Glenn accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at a young age and joined Centerville Baptist Church. As an adult, he enjoyed active membership at Bethel Baptist Church, Broadmoor Baptist Church, and Colonial Heights Baptist Church. He especially enjoyed Southern Gospel music.

Glenn graduated from Jones County Agricultural High School where he excelled in academics and athletics. While in eighth grade, he met the love of his life, Magdalene Valentine. He would later marry Magdalene and spend the next seventy-six years with her. They loved traveling, singing around a piano, golfing, and spoiling their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

During the Korean War, Glenn joined the Air Force as a logistic specialist and served four years active duty, followed by four years of active reserves. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force with the rank of Staff Sargeant.

After completing his military service, Glenn returned to Mississippi and enrolled at the University of Southern Mississippi. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and upon graduation joined a national accounting firm. Glenn later joined the US Government in the Department of Internal Revenue Service. In 1965 he earned his Certified Public Accountant designation and opened his own firm: Glenn E. Pitts, CPA, PLLC. Glenn was a distinguished public account and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a lifetime member of the Mississippi Society of Certified Public Accounting.

Glenn retired from public accounting in 2017 and has enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his great-grandchildren.

Glenn is survived by his wife Magdalene Valentine Pitts; children Deborah Lynn Pitts Reed (James) and Kenneth Edward Pitts (Rebecca); grandchildren Matthew Vaughn Reed (Maggie), Sean Edward Reed, Daniel Pitts, Courtney Lynn Reed Ford (Chris), and Nathan Pitts; great-children Knight Pitts, Reed Ford, Ellie Reed, Sawyer Reed, Banks Pitts, Amelia Reed, Emmitt Pitts, Olivia Ford, and Smith Pitts. He is also survived by his sister Shirley Pitts Todd, his brother Gerald Pitts, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Glenn’s life will be held at Wright & Ferguson, 114 Burney Drive, Flowood, Mississippi 39232 on Friday, August 28, 2026. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m., - 11:00 a.m., followed by a chapel service at 11:00 a.m.

A graveside service will be held at Big Creek Cemetery, 28 Big Creek Church Road, Soso, Mississippi 39480 at 2:30 p.m., on Friday, August 28, 2026.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Colonial Heights Baptist Church or a charity of your choice.
