Gladys Virginia Gaddis, 86, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2019. Funeral services will be 11:00am Monday, June 24, 2019 at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Raymond with visitation beginning at 10:00am. Graveside services will follow at Bethesda Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Gladys is survived by her daughters; Ginger Gaddis Kilgore and Jackie Gaddis Hodge (Dan); grandchildren; Davy Kilgore (Amy), John Barton, Daniel Hodge (Mary), Brittany Taylor (Todd); great grandchildren; John Wesley Barton II, Christopher Barton, Addyson Kilgore, Sorin Hodge, and Anna Collins Taylor.
Gladys was preceded in death by her 2 brothers, 2 sisters, daughter; Mary Lynn Barton; sons; John Richard (Ricky) Gaddis, Lewis Calvin Gaddis.
Gladys was born July 11, 1932 to Minnie Mathis Smith and Newt Smith in Tichnor, AR. She moved to Edward, MS in 1950 where she raised 5 children and was a member of Edward Baptist Church. At age 45, Gladys fulfilled her calling to be a caregiver and completed nursing school. She worked as a nurse at Mercy Hospital in Vicksburg, MS until she retired. After retirement, Gladys continued caring for others as a private sitter which she thoroughly enjoyed. Gladys then moved to Raymond, MS in 1995 where she was a member of Parkside Baptist Church in Terry, MS. Gladys enjoyed attending her homemakers club, sewing, quilting, making crafts, reading her Bible, drinking coffee, eating sweets, playing scrabble, baking, word find puzzles, crocheting, but mostly spending time and holidays with her family.
