A. Glade Dyess, 92, passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2022 in Brandon.

The family will celebrate his life during a visitation that will be held from 2:00pm to 4:00pm Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Flowood.

Glade was the y oungest of 4 boys. He was born in Frogtown in Scott County, MS. He attended Pulaski Elementary, Morton and went on to graduate from Forest High in 1949. Shortly after graduation he joined the United States Air Force. He acquired his driver's license by telling the policeman he was 15 and paying a quarter, which still has the incorrect DOB to this day!

Glade married Shirley Ann Hicks in June of 1957 after a blind date in February of that same year. He worked at Hederman Brothers and Tombigbee Printers before owning the Shell Service Station on the corner of State and Fortification Street in Jackson. He ventured into the industrial supply business with Alemite and Jackson Industrial Supply and later Harper Supply before finally starting his own industrial supply business as A. Glade Dyess Sales Company servicing many accounts such as Sanderson Farms, Mississippi Chemical, and Producers Feed to name a few.

Glade was a long-time member of Alta Woods Baptist Church and later after moving to Rankin County was an active member of Pinelake. He enjoyed playing snooker on his custom regulation size table and a friendly game of poker regularly. He was well known for always having a Punch Churchill cigar in his mouth.

He leaves behind his wife, Shirley Dyess; daughters, Beverly Wright (Stacy), and Kay Newell (Sam); son, Tipton G. Dyess (Stephanie); eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
