Geraldine Foley
Fraiser
September 19, 1923 – January 22, 2025
Geraldine Foley Fraiser, age 101, went to be with Jesus, her husband Dave Fraiser and heavenly family on January 22, 2025 after a short illness.
She is survived by her daughters, Eleanor "Sandy" Dickerson of Terry, Mississippi and Colleen (Dick) Wheeler of Brandon, Mississippi; her grandchildren, Marty Dickerson of Byram, Mississippi, Lori Collum of Terry, Mississippi and Jared Kane of Austin, Texas; her great-grandson, Devlin Collum of Terry, Mississippi; her beloved nieces and nephews and their children in Mississippi and Texas.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, David E. Fraiser; her parents, Eleanor Bridget Clare Foley and Henry Foley and her siblings, Ronnie Foley, Helena Clare Easterling and Harry Foley.
Geraldine, also known as Gerry, was born in Dublin, Ireland on September 19, 1923. During her teen years her family moved to London, England and during WW2 endured the hardship of Hitler's attack on England, including the loss of two houses from bombs and rationing food.
Geraldine met Dave Fraiser after a blind date. He was stationed in London with the U.S. Air Force. They married in London on February 18, 1945. He returned to the States and arrived in Jackson, MS before she came over on the Ship Argentina. They remained in Jackson for the remainder of their years together.
She worked for a short time at a department store, the Emporium, on Capitol Street in downtown Jackson. She, being the first war bride of Jackson, and other war brides formed a club that met regularly at their homes to form a comradery to guide one another with the adjustment to the United States. A devout Catholic, attending Catholic schools as a child in Dublin, taught by nuns, she attended St. Mary's Catholic Church in Jackson and then attended Holy Savior in Clinton, Mississippi, always helping at St. Mary's school, cafeteria and the churches with any duty asked of her.
She continued to drive herself around until her early 90's. She was a wonderful seamstress, making her own clothes since her teen years. She was the family historian and always had fascinating stories to tell. She and Dave always did yard work and gardening until Dave's passing. They were very active people, which is the reason she lived to be 101.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 26, 2025 from 5:00pm – 7:00pm at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00am Monday, January 27, 2025 at Holy Savior Catholic Church, Clinton. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.
