George Richard Morris, Sr., 79, of Jackson, Miss., passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, December 12, 2021. He was surrounded by his loving family as he was welcomed into Heaven by our Lord and Savior.
George was born in Jackson, MS, on May 5, 1942, to Raymond Calvin Morris, Sr., and Ruby Jewel Fleming-Morris. He attended Forest Hill High School and afterwards, enlisted in the Army to serve his country and later honorably discharged in 1968.
Following his time in the military, George worked at the former site of Riverwood International in Clinton for nearly 40 years and Cardinal Health for 5 years, where he was a highly respected colleague and friend to many. He was always known for being a hard worker and lending a helping hand to those who needed it.
The love he showed for his family was evident, but nothing compared to how much he loved his wife, Gail. Even at the young age of 19, George knew he'd found his soulmate and married his best friend in June 1962 and again in August 1981. You very rarely saw one without the other as their years of love was radiant to anyone who knew them.
George was a simple man who loved being outdoors, enjoyed working on his 1982 F-150 truck and being surrounded by family while drinking a glass of sweet iced tea and watching the New Orleans Saints or sitting outside with his dog, Jake.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond C. Morris Sr., and Ruby Jewel Fleming Morris; brother, James W. "Bill" Morris; nephew Charles "Chuck" Jones; and grandson, George Richard "Trey" Morris III.
