Brandon - George Martin Butts, Sr. 87, passed away on November 27, 2019. He was born on August 21, 1932 in Abbeville, MS to Stanton Murphy Butts and Nell Jernigan Butts.
George graduated from Corinth High School in Corinth, MS and Northwest Mississippi Junior College. He was a successful business owner of Woodland Hills Office Supply in Jackson. George enjoyed golfing, yardwork, wood working, and socializing with friends and family. He was a longtime member of Castlewoods Country Club where he was known as "the mayor". His wit and wisdom will be missed by many.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, John Steven; brother, Clovis Butts; and sister, Martha Ann Butts McCarter. He is survived by his wife Carolyn Buckley Butts; two daughters, Donna Broadus and Lisa (Ric Gonzalez); and two sons, Marty Butts and Kevin Butts (Melissa). He is also survived by nine grandchildren: Corey Cooper, Casey Cooper Baxter, Tara Gonzalez Skinner, Erin Gonzalez Rollins, Trey Butts, Todd Broadus, Nicholas Broadus, Mackenzie Butts, Kendall Butts; and fourteen great-grandchildren:
The family will receive visitors on Sunday, December 1, beginning at noon at the Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home (Flowood, MS) and the service will follow at the funeral home at 2 p.m. Graveside services will be held immediately thereafter at the First Baptist Church of Fannin Cemetery in Brandon, MS.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or charity of choice.
