Freddie Martin Pickens, 67, of Clinton, MS died of cancer on January 4, 2024.
Freddie is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sharon; his son, Brad and his wife Laurie of Jackson, MS; his brother, Donald Pickens; his sister Joyce Warren and his granddaughter, Alyse Anne Hollis. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Lori Hollis of Haughton, LA and his parents, V.H. and Ella Faye Pickens.
Freddie was born on March 6, 1956 the son of Ella Faye and V.H. Pickens. He graduated from Chamberlain Hunt Academy in Port Gibson, MS in 1977, he then moved to Atlanta, GA and accepted a position as a lumber salesman. In 1978 he moved back to Mississippi where he worked for 45 years.
Freddie was a great family man and a loving father. He married Sharon Arney in October of 1978 and the couple had two children together, Lori and Brad.
Freddie was a socially active man who was deeply involved in and loved Mt. Salus Masonic Lodge, scuba diving, hunting, bass fishing, golf and Judo (Brown Belt), he was also a licensed pilot.
A visitation is scheduled for Monday January 8, 2024 at 10:00am followed by a chapel service beginning at 11:00am all at Wright and Ferguson in Clinton. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Freddie. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park. The Reverend Jimmy Criddle will officiate.
The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice Ministries, Inc. and the staff at the Baptist Hospital for all their compassionate care.
