Obituary

Frank Henry Hagaman, Jr., 96, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, November 24, 2018.

Mr. Hagaman was the only son of Frank H. Hagaman, M.D., and Edwina Short Hagaman. He attended school at Riverside Military in Florida and the McCallie School in Chattanooga before graduating from Jackson Central High School. He spent one year at Tulane University before enlisting in the U. S. Army Air Corps. He trained as a B-17 Bomber pilot but World War II ended before he was sent overseas into active duty.

In 1945 Lieutenant Hagaman married Catherine Richardson, and after he was discharged from the service, they lived in New Orleans until he was awarded his degree in Business Administration from Tulane. They moved to Jackson and raised two daughters, Catherine Hagaman Edwards (husband David F Edwards) and Frances Hagaman (deceased).

Mr. Hagaman began his professional career as a Certified Public Accountant with his cousin Dick Quin and in 1958 opened his own CPA firm, Hagaman and Associates. As the years passed, the firm grew and was distinguished by an innovative approach to computers and other new technologies and leadership in the Mississippi Society of CPA's. Mr. Hagaman retired in 1981 and pursued other business opportunities for the next 25 years.

He lost his wife of 47 years in 1992 and soon after met and married Mary Word, of Leland, Mississippi. They enjoyed 25 years of marriage, and he was welcomed into Mary's large, extended family.

Mr. Hagaman enjoyed flying his private airplane, fishing off the coast of Louisiana, and especially his years teaching Sunday School to 6th graders at First Presbyterian Church, where he was a lifelong member. In his later years he enjoyed walking in his Fondren neighborhood and visiting his three grandchildren in New Orleans and Pass Christian.

Mr. Hagaman is survived by his wife, Mary, his daughter Catherine, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

A private graveside service will take place at the family plot in Lakewood Cemetery.

Should you wish to honor his memory with a gift, the family will be pleased if you select a charity of your choice.
