Frank Turner Allen, 93, died Tuesday, September 18, 2018, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. Visitation will be held at Wright and Ferguson in Flowood, on Monday, September 24, 2018, from 5:00 until 7:00 pm. Services will be held on Tuesday, September 25, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., First Baptist Church, Madison with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at Parkway Memorial Cemetery in Ridgeland.
Mr. Allen was born May 20, 1925 in Jackson, Mississippi the son of the late Henry Virgil and Mabel Rhymes Allen. He graduated from Central High School in 1943 and from Milsaps College in 1949 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He served two tours with the U.S. Navy, first during World War II and then in the Korean Conflict where he served as a Physician's Assistant. He retired from the Mississippi State Rating Bureau after 36 years and was a member of the Pioneer Insurance Club, the Blue Goose Insurance Club and the Downtown Jackson Exchange Club. Mr. Allen was a member of First Baptist Church of Madison and also attended the Men's Bible study at First Baptist of Jackson.
Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 42 years, Lanelle Pittman Allen and his wife of 8 years, Dorothy Leird Allen; his son, Keith Turner Allen; his brothers, Thomas E. Allen, William R. Allen, Charles R. Allen, Henry V. Allen, Jr.; and his sister, Laura Ceil Allen Hudspeth. He is survived by his daughter, Angela Allen Heider; his sons, Carl F. Allen (Melanie) and Henry R. Allen; also, his grandchildren Catherine Allen Carter (Jon), Jon Peters, Heather Heider Akins (Tyler) and Margaret "Maggie" Allen. Mr. Allen also leaves great grandchildren Katie Carter and Owen Carter and his long time friend Frances Gatlin to cherish his memory.
