FRANCES SHEARER WALTERS

(January 25, 1932  -  October 1, 2023)

Born and raised in Bentonia, MS, Frances graduated from Satartia High School and then attended cosmetology school.  She started her career at Joseph's Salon in Jackson (later known as Earle & Joseph Salon) for many years before opening her own salon in Clinton until retiring at the age of 80.  She loved her clients and co-workers and they remained her lifelong cherished friends.

Her energetic nature and love for others was unwavering even after long hours and days, always making sure meals were prepared and served at the family table, and giving grace to the Lord.  She enjoyed her family more than anything.  She also loved gardening and teaching her daughters and nieces to cook and sew.  She was a very caring soul who always put herself before others, taking care of anyone in need.  Her daughters remember having someone extra living in their home many times as she always kept her doors open while extending a helping hand.  Even though her body became tired and broken these last years, she maintained her sound mind, humorous personality, and kind heart until the end.

If one would ask, "What would Jesus do?"  She always did just that.

She was a charter member of Wildwood Baptist Church in Clinton.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Robert Frederick Walters; six of eight siblings, Wiley Shearer, Kenneth Shearer, Buford Shearer, Catherine Shearer Armour, Vonnie Shearer Harris, and Lawrence Shearer.

She is survived by her brother, Bill Shearer of Jackson; two daughters, Toni Walters Clayton of Alabama and Connie Walters Barnes (Mike) of Canton; five grandchildren, Morgan Clayton Richardson of Alabama, Brenner Hobbs (Sandy) of Clinton, Mitch Clayton of Alabama, Dailey Harrison Stubbs (Jordan) of Clinton, Mallory Barnes Shinn (Michael) of Madison; fifteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

"A life well lived is a legacy of joy and pride and pleasure.

A living, lasting memory our grateful hearts will treasure."

A private celebration of her life will be held at a later time.
