Frances Shotts Robinson Thompson, a lifelong resident of Jackson, born December 9, 1937, passed away November 16th after a brief stay in Baptist Hospital. Services will be held at St. James Episcopal Church on Oak Ridge Drive in Jackson. Visitation will be from 10 am to noon in Fowler Hall. The service will be at noon in the sanctuary followed by the interment in Cedar Lawn Cemetery. A reception will be held at St. James after the graveside service.
Frances lived in Jackson her whole life. She graduated from Central High School with the Class of 1955. After a short time attending Mississippi College for Women she returned to Jackson and worked for Mississippi Valley Gas. She married Fielding Robinson and was a mother to 5 wonderful and adorable children. Eventually she moved into retail sales, working for several clothing stores in Jackson including the Balcony, Clothiers, Harold's and Steinmart. She also worked for the Early Settler. Her second marriage to Morris Thompson was in January, 1994. Family was very important to her. She had many friends and was loved by those that knew her. Her kind heart and generous spirit were defined by her faith in God.
She was predeceased by her father, Henry Roger Shotts, mother, Mary Leila Shotts, first husband, Fielding Robinson, second husband, Morris Thompson and step son, Spencer Thompson.
Surviving members include her children, Brad Robinson, Mitchell Robinson, with wife Linda, Leila Kimmer with husband John, Paul Robinson and Caroline Ferguson with husband Jay. Her grandchildren include Katie Robinson, Trey and Ford Ferguson, Robert Kimmer, and Buddy, Luke and Mary Leila Robinson, and three to be named later. Her step children include, Becky McMillian, The Very Reverend Morris Thompson, and wife Rebecca, Walt Thompson and Frances Peterson with husband Mark. Step grandchildren include Whitney Willimann and husband Bob, Reverend Morris Thompson, Jr. and wife Emily, Virginia Thomas and husband Kevin, Jean Marie Roswell and husband Simon, Ashley Jones and husband Den, Thomas Mark Peterson and Taylor Thompson Peterson and great grandchildren Bella and Brady Jones and Morris Thompson, III.
Pall Bearers will include John Robinson, Jay Cooke, Reverend Morris Thompson, Jr., Gus Dear, J.D. Carmichael, Buddy Robinson, Stuart Clarke. Honorary Pall Bearers include Trey Ferguson, Robert Kimmer, Luke Robinson and Ford Ferguson.
