Obituary

Frances Lumsden Reynolds passed away peacefully on July 13, 2022 at Hospice Ministries at the age of 104. She was born in Mendenhall, Ms., September 9, 1917 to Clement and Roberta Lumsden. She graduated from Mendenhall High School in 1935, attended Copiah-Lincoln Community College, where she was a cheerleader; and, graduated from MS. State College for Women. She married Seab Reynolds, a First Lieutenant in the U. S. Army, in 1942. During their time in the Army, they lived in Texas and California.

After the war, they moved to Clinton, Ms.  Seab, a civil engineer, owned Reynolds Engineering Company in Jackson. They had a son, Jerry, who graduated from Clinton High School in 1966. Her greatest joys were her home, family and friends.

She was a very active member of First Baptist Jackson for over 70 years and participated in several mission trips. She lived her faith and supported many of the organizations of the church.

In 2014, she moved to Sunnybrook Estates independent living for 8 years. She made many friends there and won the bean-bag toss on her first try! On Sundays she would put on her Sunday best and watch First Baptist Jackson on TV.

A long time fan and supporter of the Ms State University, she and Seab took many trips with friends to football and baseball games. They were active Booster Club Members, and in her later years, continued to follow the Ms. State Bulldogs.

During her life, she was called on to care for family members on many occasions.  She provided longtime support for her grandmother, mother, husband, brother and son.  She was the ultimate care giver.

She was preceded in death by her husband and son, her brothers, Frank Aubrey Lumsden, Clement Clay Lumsden, and George Robert Lumsden.

She is survived by grandsons, Jason Reynolds (Carey), Titusville, Fl, Sean Reynolds (Shanna), of Ferrum, Va.; great grandchildren, Sarah Brown (Stephen), Clayton, Ga., Tyler Reynolds (Kristen), Titusville, Fl, Elizabeth, Aaron, and Andrew Reynolds, Ferrum, Va.; one great great grandson, Ryker Reynolds, Titusville, Fl.; nieces, Becky Davis (Fred), Jackson, Ms, and Carol Townsend (Doug), Magee, Ms; and nephews Robert S. Lumsden, Sr. (Ann), Tallahassee, Fl, and Frank Lumsden, North Carolina.

A celebration of "a life well lived" will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday the 22nd of July in the Chapel of First Baptist Jackson. Preceding the celebration, there will be a 9:00 a.m. private graveside service for family at Lakewood Cemetery.

Frances had a tapestry on the wall of her home; the saying likened families to quilts… all the pieces of the quilt are different, yet all stitched together by loving relationships. Family members are much the same and she was the stitching for our family. She was a fine person and continues to provide a model for future generations.  She is missed.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Jackson, 431 N. State St. Jackson, Ms, 39201, Hospice Ministries, 450 Towne Center Blvd, Ridgeland, Ms 39157, or the charity of your choice.

Special Thanks to Christie Hull, NP, for years of kindness and care, to Sunnybrook Estates staff for making her last years such a pleasure, and to Hospice Ministries for comforting her in her final days.
