Eydie Jo Anne Winkel of Brandon, MS passed away at the age of 59 on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Baptist Hospital in Jackson, MS as a result of a lengthy battle with cancer.
Eydie was born in Clarksdale, MS on July 25, 1958. She graduated from Delta State University with a degree in criminal justice and went on to pursue a career with the Mississippi Department of Corrections where she retired as a warden. In her spare time, Eydie enjoyed playing softball, swimming, gardening, woodworking, traveling, and spending time with her beloved pets.
She is survived by her loving family: Carrie G. Cullum of Brandon, Brian Cullum (Carrie, Joseph, and Katie) of Madison, Dianna Parker of Brandon, Joe (Vermelle) Goodson of Forest, her brothers and sisters-Dorothy Foster (Danny) of West Memphis, AR, Beverly Thomas (Rodney) of Clarksdale, Bernie Winkel (Rachel) of Moon Lake, Edward Winkel (Kathy) of Clarksdale, Toni Meredith, of Brandon. She leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews, and adoring friends. Eydie was preceded in death by her parents, Rosa and Bernie Winkel.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 18th from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. and Monday, March 19th at 9:00 a.m. at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Flowood. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 19th at 10:00 am at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Flowood. A graveside service will follow at Carr United Methodist Church in Forest, MS. Serving as pallbearers will be Brian Cullum, Schaun Goodson, Bobby Foster, Ryan Thomas, Scott Thomas, Chip Meredith, Chuck Camarato, Jep Gates, and Vicki Burton.
