Obituary

Evelyn Susan McWilliams Pride Wilson died on January 14, 2020. She had just celebrated her birthday for having lived 105 years (born last century in 1915). Her husband, Horace Wilson, and her youngest son, David Alan Wilson, predeceased her.

Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Wanda Faircloth, and two sons, William Daniel Pride, and Michael Harley Wilson. Her grandchildren, Cynthia Faircloth, Rachel Wilson Beuttler, Leah Pride, William Pride, Jr., Aaron Wilson, Nathan Wilson, Megan Wilson and Ryanne Wilson.

Also, Evelyn has great-grand children, Elizabeth Faircloth, Tyler Beuttler, Wyatt and Makenzie Wilson, Natalie and Nickolas Pride, and Michael Yerger and one great-great grand son.

Evelyn was raised as a Methodist at the time the circuit rider preacher came to the church at intervals She was about 4 years old when her Uncle Henry came home after the end of World War One. Her father, Daniel McWilliams, died in 1930 and she had to spend the Depression years helping her mother, Della May Ledford McWilliams, raise her four younger brothers,Thomas, Dan Jr., Elmer and Bernard.

After the end of World War II, she became a military wife moving to and setting up a home in different places: Tennessee, Georgia, Territory of Alaska (1955) traveling with her husband and four children (one only 6 months old) via the ALCAN Highway, Ohio, Wisconsin, and then retired in Tennessee, but later moving again to Texas, Indiana, Kansas, and Mississippi.

Evelyn was an avid Historian with her main topics: Tennessee history, and family history/ancestry. In addition to these interests, she loved to paint using oil paint, water colors, and draw with charcoal, in addition to her writings.

Evelyn Wilson devoted her life to caring for her family. Had it not been for the hard work and effort of her daughter-in-law, Gina Pride, a 30-year retired RN, and granddaughter, Leah Pride Allain we believe mother would have passed years ago. We all loved her and we will miss her very much.

The family will have a private service at a later date.
