Ethelyn Rainer Mayfield passed away peacefully on June 9, 2016, at Hospice Ministries Facility in Ridgeland MS. She was the daughter of John Paul and Margaret Ewing Rainer, born on May 11, 1929, in Vaughn, MS.
After graduating from Benton High School, Ethelyn, better known as "Sis", went to work for South Central Bell as a Customer Service Agent, mail room clerk and later on worked in the engineering dept. She worked there for over 25 years as SCB evolved into the multinational telecommunication giant we now know as AT&T. She also worked as a secretary for a private and high school system in Clinton MS.
Sis was a member of First Baptist Church of Clinton where she served the Lord with all that she had. She loved her family and friends with a passionate heart and a kind soul. Her hobbies were playing bridge, piano, cooking and watching old TV shows and movies with her husband of 63 years, Cliff. Sis touched the lives of many Clintonians and outside the city as well. She will be extremely missed by all that knew her.
Sis was a loving mother of 3 boys, 5 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Mike and husband Cliff. Sis is survived by her sons, Alan (Connie) of Ozark MO, and Jimmy (Stephanie) of Decatur AL; grandchildren, Daniel (Alissa), Nathan (Chrystal), Amanda, Matt (Meagan), and Stephan; great grandchildren are Kenna, Kamryn, Carter, Ariel, Roman and Jordan.
A funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton, MS, on Monday, June 13, 2016. A visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Monday before the service.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift in her name may be made to the First Baptist Church music department.
