Emitte Joseph Garriga, Jr. (Joey), 75, passed away on September 11, 2022, after a progressive illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emitte Garriga, Sr. and Louise Garriga, and his brother David Garriga.  He is survived by his 3 children, Lisa Coke and her husband Steve of Florence, MS, his son John David Garriga and is wife Angelique of D'Iberville, MS, his daughter Angela Garriga of Jackson, MS, his brother Doug Garriga of Clinton, MS, his sister Suzi Nyberg and her husband Don of Clinton, MS, and 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Joey was born on October 10, 1946, in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. At the age of 15, he moved with the family to Clinton, MS. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1965 and was a graduate of Mississippi State University. He served 7 years in the Army National Guard, attended Officer Candidate School, and achieved the rank of 2 ^nd Lieutenant. He was a very proud serviceman who deeply loved his country.

Joey had a long career in the automobile business, both in management of various dealerships, as well as an owner of several dealerships, and as an automobile wholesaler. He will be remembered as being an avid Mississippi State Bulldog fan, and for his love for fast cars and his beloved Harley motorcycle.

There will be a visitation on Thursday, September 15, from 4:00-6:00 p.m., at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton, MS. In lieu of flowers, you may consider a donation to the Mississippi Chapter of Alzheimer's Association.
