Ellis Myers Morrison, 75, of Brookhaven died at his home surrounded by his family and friends on February 7, 2016. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday beginning at 2:00 pm in the Palestine Cemetery in Raymond, MS with Wright and Ferguson funeral home in charge of arrangements. Ellis was born in Raymond, MS on November 19, 1940 to Willie B. Morrison and Ellis Sullivan Morrison. Mr. Morrison graduated from Raymond High School and attended Hinds Junior College. After graduation, he was employed with Letourneau, Inc. as a welder. In 1969 he began his career with the Mississippi Highway Patrol as a trooper, retiring in 1989. He loved hunting, fishing, and being with his beloved family, friends, and his dog, Duck. He was a member of New Sight Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Knight Morrison; his sons, Ellis Lee Morrison (Patricia); Ritchie Myers Morrison (Wes) of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Austin Beau Morrison (Jenneen), Mathew Lee Morrison (Amber); great grandchildren, Delia Marie, Wyat Lee, and Hunter Reed all of Brookhaven, MS; and many numerous relatives and close friends. The pallbearers are Beau Morrison, Matt Morrison, Ron Kelley, Danny Berry, Lester Powell, Greg Howell, Wayne Jordan, Bob Powell and Mike Holmes. The family wishes to give special thanks to Hospice Ministries of Brookhaven and to those who came to visit out of love, respect, and support for this precious man.
