Ellis Ray Berry
May 31, 1944 – February 24, 2026
Ellis Ray Berry was born on May 31, 1944, and lived a life rooted in hard work, generosity, and a deep love for the land.
In his younger years, Ellis loved hunting and fishing, finding peace and purpose outdoors. One of his greatest joys, however, was gardening. He had a true gift for growing vegetables, especially tomatoes, which were his pride and passion. Year after year, he faithfully provided fresh produce for his family and anyone else who could benefit from it. He especially enjoyed driving his tractor while tending his garden.
Ellis was a dedicated and hardworking man throughout his life. He spent 47 years working for Cal-Maine Foods, where he built a reputation for reliability, commitment, and strong work ethic. His long career reflected the same perseverance and loyalty that defined every aspect of his life.
Even in his later years, Ellis never gave up working the soil he loved. Though age brought challenges and he relied on a cane or walker, he continued gardening as long as he could, believing someone would always benefit from what he grew. His perseverance and selflessness were hallmarks of his character.
Ellis is survived by his children: son David Berry of Duck Hill; daughter Kathy Pullen of Raymond; son Paul Berry (Erin) of Clinton; and his son-in-law, Tommy of Raymond, whom he thought of as a son. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Jennifer and Brody Berry; Virginia, Megan, and Kiefer Pullen; and Zoei Berry; as well as his great-grandson, Liam.
He is reunited with his beloved wife, Dauvice Berry, who preceded him in death on November 26, 2022.
Ellis will be remembered for his love of family, his tireless work ethic, and a garden that always had room for one more row.
