Elizabeth Day Miller, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home and was escorted by angels to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 21, 2023.
Elizabeth was born on July 21, 1930, in Darby, Pennsylvania to Elwood and Edna Thompson during the height of the Great Depression. She moved to San Diego, California to live with her father when she was 10 and graduated from Hoover High School in 1947. Elizabeth married Marshall F. Miller in 1952 and had two children, Alan, and Sharon.
She worked in the aerospace industry for General Dynamics, Convair Division in San Diego for 30 years as an electronic assembler, working on circuit boards for the Atlas Centaur rockets. After retirement, she moved to Florida to be near her daughter and family. Later moving to Mississippi where she lived with her daughter and son-in-law, for 9 years.
Elizabeth never drove a car but loved to go for car rides and "see the world". She loved watching the Weather Channel, news, history, football, and other shows. However, you could often find her outside raking the leaves.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, Elwood, and Edna Thompson and her brothers and sisters: Russell Thompson, Wilda Silverman, Quintin Thompson and half-siblings Martha Williams, Carrie Wanzel Kurczh, Alice Wanzel Nastasi, and Raymond Wanzel.
Surviving family includes her children, Alan Miller (Cheri), Dallas, TX, and Sharon Miller (Mike), Clinton, MS, her two grandchildren, Tamara Wallace (Chad), and Arin Miller, as well as her ten great grandchildren, Taylor Wallace, Caleb Wallace, Rachel Wallace, Hannah Wallace, Micah Wallace, Leah Wallace, William Wallace, Grant Wallace, David Wallace, and Emma Wallace. Also, she is survived by her half-brother, John Wanzel (Joyce) of Delaware, her half-sister, Jacqueline Desper of Maryland, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held 10 am on Feb. 28, 2023, at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home, 106 Cynthia St., Clinton, MS, with a service to be held at 11 am. Following the service will be a private family burial at Garden Memorial Park, 8001 US 49, Jackson, MS.
In lieu of flowers, send memorials to the Dementia Society of America or Alzheimer's Association.
