Drane Long
March 14, 1944 – February 27, 2024
Elizabeth Ann Drane Long was born March 14, 1944, in Laredo, Texas, to James Alexander and Elizabeth Stuckey Drane.
She was a graduate of Provine High School in Jackson and Hinds Community College and attended Mississippi College, nearing completion of a bachelor's degree.
Mrs. Long worked in the Registrar and Admissions offices of Mississippi College for 33 years before retiring in 2019. In 2014 she was honored with the Doc Quick Staff Award, recognizing her loyalty, faithfulness, and hard work at MC. She was a long-time member of Mt. Salus Presbyterian Church, Clinton, MS, and in recent years watched the broadcasts of First Baptist Church of Jackson, MS.
Mrs. Long was preceded in death by her parents and her dearly loved husband, Joseph P. Long.
She is survived by her daughters Annerin Long and Lori Long; sister Jane (Bill) Hairston and brother James (Ramphai) Drane; niece Claudette (Andy) Tennant; nephews Shelton (Rachel) Whittington and Gabe Whittington; several other nieces and nephews; and her much beloved granddog, Kingston.
Memorials may be sent to the Media Ministry of First Baptist Jackson (P. O. Box 250, Jackson, MS 39205) or to a charity of your choice.
Visitation will be held from 10:00–11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 4, at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton, MS. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton.
