Obituary

Edna Dale Stallings-Hightower, known to many as "Bunky" and "Granny", passed away on March 22, 2022 at the age of 86 after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. Dale, as she preferred to be called, was brought into this world on December 4 th , 1935 by Edna Elizabeth Owens and Granville Welbourn Owens and life was never dull after that day. Dale grew up in Grapeland, TX and met Harold J. Stallings, the love of her life, in Craine, TX. He loved her like no other! They had three sons and one daughter.

Mr. and Mrs. Stallings built a home and life together in Longview, TX and later moved to Abilene, TX for several years until they decided to go into a successful business together for many years in Central Texas called Mirror Image. Harold passed away in 1996 from a long battle with Parkinsons. Dale retired and then met Don Hightower several years later, whom she later wed. Sadly, Don passed away a few years later from health complications.

Our Granny was one of a kind as she lived life in a big way and loved her family with all her heart. She enjoyed eating catfish, Mexican food, and if you ask her grandkids they would also say "the last onion ring on the table", and she enjoyed reading books, Elvis, Gone with the Wind and celebrating the holidays with her family, most of all, Christmas.

Granny loved her grandchildren more than anything. She loved her time spent with them, phone calls and was always ready to show pictures of them to everyone. Every one of Granny's grandchildren will love and remember the "Granny scratch" as they all at one point and time were taught to pray before bed as Granny scratched their backs until they fell asleep. She was so proud of each and every one of them. Granny prayed daily over her family and we all know she is in heaven rooting us on. Dale is survived by her brother Sam Owens and his wife Joyce Owens, Her first born son James Stallings and his wife Crystal Stallings, Her daughter Julie Williamson and her Husband Jim Williamson Sr. and her last born son Jere Stallings and his wife Cindy Stallings. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her first husband Harold Stallings, her second husband Don Hightower, her third born son, Mike Stallings and her siblings Gerald Owens, Avonell Owens Brosh, JV Owens and Virginia (Ginnie) Owens Frazee.

As our family mourns the loss of our sister, mother and Granny we find ways to smile and laugh through the tears as we have so many amazing memories that we will forever hold close to our hearts and will tell the stories about our one of a kind Angel until it's our own time to meet our Heavenly Father. Thank you Lord for blessing us with 86 years with our Spunky Bunky.
