Obituary

Our Mother relinquished her fight against serious heart issues at Hospice Ministries, Inc. in Ridgeland, Mississippi, October 31, 2022.  Edna Coulter Cash was born on November 26, 1932 to Jesse Dixon Coulter and Lola "Deggs" Coulter.

Edna was married to John C. Cash July 12, 1950 to 1957. After her marriage she completed her high school and graduated with the class of 1952 Desha County High School in Desha County, Arkansas. When she was in her late forties, she attended Southern Ohio College in Cincinnati, Ohio and received her Associates Degree in Accounting. After nineteen years of service, she retired from Levi Strauss & Co. as the plant statistician in Florence, KY. Her last fifteen years in the public work force was with Polly's Fabrics in Jackson, MS – a job she loved. It made her day to work with the fabric, patterns, notions, and the customers, i.e. individual, groups, exhibits like the Russian and Spanish exhibits, a University of Mississippi 150 th Anniversary display, costumes for the ballet and the movie industry.

Edna gave her heart to God in the summer of 1953 at the Friends Church in MacArthur, Arkansas. She endeavored to serve God with her whole heart and instilled those teachings in her two children.  She had daily 'Family Worship' that included oral Bible reading insuring that her children learned the Word of God and they also learned to read.  She stayed active with church until she was no longer able to get out and attend.

Edna, being a young mother, grew up with her children so she played hide-and-go-seek, roller skated, ice skated (in her shoes), watched as her children learned to ride bicycles (she was terrified of them so never learned to ride), played all the board games with them, and read books, books, books to them at night.

On a personal note, Edna loved to read, history was a favorite, but just about any book was game for her.  She loved music and sang at the house a lot, and was a meticulous seamstress, thus her mandate – if it is worth doing then do it until you get it right. Any garment she made met that criteria.

Some of her greatest life lessons were to put God first in our lives; to have faith in God in all circumstances; to be honest at all times even if it hurt; to treat ALL people with dignity; and to walk with confidence and poise.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents; the following brothers:  Elsmere, Odell, J.D., Ralph, Hiram, and Lawrence; and, three sisters: Dorothy, Lucia, and Eula Xriffe. She is survived by her daughter, Esther Cash and son, Nathan Cash (Ruth); grandchildren: Ryan Cash (Liz), Carl Cash( Heather), Ashley Coulter, Amanda Kibble (John), and Richard Cash; and great grandchildren: Wesley Cash, Penelope Cash, Genevieve Cash,  Eli Cash,  Josephine Cash,  and John Maddox Kibble.

Many thanks to those involved in her care: Hospice Ministries, Dr. Richard Guyens, Dr. Bobby Graham, Dr. Lauren Williamson, Dr. Parveen Kumar, Liz Cash in ER at St. Dominic's, a host of nurses, the Reservior Fire Department, and the Spillway Kroger Pharmacy.  A thank you to Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home for their kindness and caring directions, to say nothing of the friends and family members that called or came by to check on her.
