Edith Crawley Sharp was born July 10, 1926 to John Robert and Ermine Groves Crawley in Trigg County KY. She graduated Valedictorian from Hopkinsville High School. After graduation she worked for Western Union and then moved to Nashville TN where she met Stanley C Sharp, Jr. to whom she was married for 56 years until his death in 2003. While in Nashville, she was President of the Young Women's Club of Nashville, Secretary of Merry Oaks Garden Club. She and her husband attended Donnelson Presbyterian Church. In 1960, they moved to Jackson, MS where she was the Treasurer of Twin Pines Garden Club, President of Mecca Luncheon Club, Board Member of Mississippi Symphony League, member of Jackson Music Association. She and her husband were founding members of Covenant Presbyterian Church where she served as Assistant Treasurer and Secretary and a member of the Women of the Church. She also worked for Welcome Wagon, and the US Census Bureau.
She had a passion for traveling, where she visited over 105 countries and 6 continents. At 85, she traveled with her two daughters to Dubai.
She spent much of her time over the past 20 years in Highlands, NC where she enjoyed playing bridge, attending Highlands Presbyterian Church, and going to the park on Saturday nights for music.
She was preceded in death by her husband Stanley Sharp Jr, her sisters Mary Radford and Anita Rittenhouse, and brother John Robert Crawley. She is survived by her children Stanley Sharp III (Florence), Susan Pressler (Dale) and Lisa Newcomb (Harold), granddaughters Anna McLemore (Jay), great-granddaughter Louise, and Jennifer Wilson.
Visitation will be held at Covenant Presbyterian Church on August 17 at 12:00 pm with service to follow at 1:00. Memorials may be made to The Brain Aneurysm Foundation at bafound.org; Habitat for Humanity in Jackson, MS; and Stewpot Ministries of Jackson, MS.
