Douglas Marvin Branning, 68, passed away on October 3, 2022 surrounded by family. He was the husband of Rebecca Lynne (Harvey) Branning.  They met at McCluer Academy and have been together ever since.  They were married at Alta Woods Baptist Church in Jackson and have shared 45 years together in marriage.

Doug was born in Jackson on May 3, 1954. He began his college career at Hinds Junior College where he played baseball before transferring to Mississippi State University where he graduated. He went on to pursue a lifelong career in education, this included coaching and administration.  He was passionate about helping the next generation of youth succeed.

He and his wife were members at Pinelake Church where he served as a greeter. He loved connecting with others and was faithful in his service. He was an avid Mississippi State University fan and enjoyed attending both football and baseball games.

Doug is survived by his wife, Rebecca Lynne (Harvey) Branning; his son, Jay Douglas Branning (Jima); grandchildren, Ainsley Kate Branning and Baylor Harvey Branning; his mother, Clara Nell Branning; sister, Donna McArthur (Chip); brothers, Lee Branning (Carla) and Joe Marc Branning (Debbie); brother-in-law, Ricky Harvey (Caroline); and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, James W. Branning.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 7 at Pinelake Church, Reservoir Campus in the Venue. Visitation starting at 9:30am with services beginning at 10:30am.  A graveside service will be held at Morgan Chapel Baptist Cemetery in Sturgis, MS at 2:30pm.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Pinelake Church, 6071 HW 25 in Brandon or to Morgan Chapel Baptist Church, 4950 Morgantown Rd in Sturgis.
