Dorothy "Dot" W. Perry, 89, passed away Monday, September 16, 2024 at her home in Pearl.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024 from 5pm – 7pm and Saturday, September 21, 2024 from 11am – 12pm at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home, Flowood. Funeral services will begin at 12pm Saturday in the funeral home chapel with interment to follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.
Dot was born in Dorsey, MS to the late William Delvin and Jewell Farris Wood. As an adult she lived in Gulfport, MS for a while and then moved to Clinton where she spent most of her life. Dot was a faithful employee of South Central Bell where she started as an operator in 1954. She retired September 30, 1987 as supervisor in Traffic and Engineering.
Dot loved spending time with her family. She loved gardening, reading, traveling, bird watching, the Atlanta Braves, SEC Football and her friends at Pocahontas Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, William D. Pendergest, who preceded her in 1982; husband, Charles G. Perry, who preceded her in 2005; daughter, Angie Chandler; son-in-law, Leroy Chandler, Jr.; siblings, Geraldine Faulkner, Imogene Nanney, William Wood, Verl Wood, and Judy Petty; special friend, Joe Reece; and her pets, Paco and Simba (among others).
Dot is survived by her granddaughters, Samantha Flynn of Pearl and Lauren Forrester of Greenville, S.C.; grandsons, Andrew Chandler (Kim) of Clinton, and Michael Chandler (Tina) of Leesburg; great-grandchildren, Heather Rast (Chris) of Florence, Charlee Beth Roberts (Corey) of Pearl, Ashlee Ferguson of Flowood, Drew Chandler of Clinton, Meredith Chandler of Clinton, Graham Chandler of Leesburg, and Jackson Flynn of Pearl; great-great grandchildren, Connor Steele, Amelia Rast, Greyson Rast, and Walker Ferguson; sister-in-law, Faye Wood of Saltillo; brother-in-law, Jerry Petty of Burleson, TX; nieces and nephews, Pam Anderson, Diane King, Lisa Wood, Buddy Wood, Jason Petty; and special friends, Greg Flynn and Beth and Ronnie Hill.
