Doris Thompson Jones, 91, of Canton, Georgia died January 2, 2023. Born in Polkville, MS she was a graduate of Forest Hills High School and Hinds Junior College as well as attending Belhaven College. She is survived by her daughter Karen Jones Atchison. Mrs. Jones passed away after complications with Parkinson's Disease. She is predeceased by her husband Jerry Taylor Jones, daughter Kimberly Anne Jones, and her parents Johnie Hanon Thompson and Rachel Richardson Thompson. Mrs. Jones succeeded in several careers including teaching music, title insurance, and advertising. She enjoyed various hobbies such as genealogy, knitting, and crocheting. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Services will be held Friday, January 6 at 11 AM with a graveside service at Briar Hill Cemetery, MS. Flowers will be received by Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home of Flowood, MS. She was a member of Monterey United Methodist Church, Daughters of the American Revolution, and volunteered with the US Air Force Civil Defense Ground Observer Corps Filter Center and the General Federation of Women's Club (Florentine Club).
