Donald P. Johns, 82, went to his heavenly home on April 26, 2021. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at Wright and Ferguson in Clinton from 5:00pm to 7:00pm and on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at First Baptist Church Clinton from 9:00am to 10:00am with service following at 10:00am. Burial will be at Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
Mr. Johns was born on August 21, 1938 to Charles and Merle Johns. He spent his college years playing basketball first at Hinds Junior College and then at Mississippi College. After receiving his degree he joined the Army Reserves and was an MP for 6 years. He was very involved in each church he attended throughout his life, becoming a Deacon, teaching Sunday School, cooking meals for Wednesday night supper and taking mission trips to Mexico, Utah and Virginia. Many would remember him from his time as a Girls Youth Softball Coach. Mr. Johns loved hunting and fishing but most of all spending time with his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
Mr. Johns is survived by his wife of almost 60 years Hassel Johns; daughters Cheryl Sykes (Bill) and Paula Johns; grandchildren Nikki Shipp (Blake) and Rachel Lee and 5 great Grandchildren.
Memorials in honor of Mr. Johns may be made to the Crossroads Baptist Church Building Program.
