Donald Franklin Fisher, 76, of Meridian, passed away the morning of June 29, 2022, at his Brandon, MS residence.

Mr. Fisher was born in Meridian, MS on July 20, 1945, to parents Lewis and Lorene (Smith) Fisher.

He attended Central High School in Jackson, MS. Don worked as a firefighter in Jackson, MS for 33 years (1968-2001) He worked his way up to, and retired at, the rank of Captain and was lovingly known as Captain Fish to his fellow firefighters.

Don Fisher is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Carole Rose (Gilbertson) Fisher and their children and spouses and 8 grandchildren as follows: son, Donald Scott and Karla Fisher; daughter, Lisa Carole (Fisher) Harris; and son, Steven Todd and Jennifer Fisher; grandkids, Lindsey, Sierra, Matt, Mitchell, Mason, Mallory, Carson, and Reid.

Don loved spending time with his family, telling unbelievable-but-true stories, cooking his classic staples, and watching sports (He coached many a team in his younger days).

If you knew Don Fisher in any capacity, whether family, friend, or co-worker, you knew an exceptionally kind and generous man. He will be sorely missed and forever loved.

A Memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, July 2, 2022, at Wright & Ferguson funeral home in Flowood. The family will receive friends at 10:30am.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Blair Batson Children's Hospital in Jackson, MS, St. Jude's in Memphis, TN, and the Jackson Firefighters Memorial Fund.
