Obituary

Donald H. Douglas, age 88, of Clinton, MS, passed away Wednesday June 9, 2021. Visitation will be held Monday June 14, 2021 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton, MS. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at the same location. Services will be officiated by Don's best friend Buddy Pharis.
Don was born in Crystal Springs, Mississippi on August 10, 1932 to Marshall and Fannie Douglas. He attended high school in Monroe, LA and joined the Air Force after high school serving his country in San Antonio, Arizona, and Japan during the Korean War. After being honorably discharged he went to Northeast Louisiana University on the GI bill where he met the love of his life Barbara DeLouche. They married and he adored her for the next 62+ years. They had two sons Kent and Steven.
Don spent his career working for the Corps of Engineers at Waterways Experiment Station in Vicksburg. He traveled the globe to places like the Panama Canal Zone, Nevada Test site, Belgium and all 50 states doing seismic work on dams, buildings and the once top-secret presidential bunkers in West Virginia. Along the way Don was awarded several patents for his inventions, made lifelong friends and made a difference in the world. He was proud to work for the Corps.
When he retired from WaterWays he bought a Harley, joined the HOG club and traveled around the country with his Harley buddies. He got serious about woodworking, creating custom tables for his entire family. Don also loved fishing on the Gulf Coast with his boys, joining them on an annual Father's Day fishing trip.
Don loved his four grandchildren who call him Grandy. He made sure that their childhoods were amazing. Evan, Alec, Sami and Hutt were his world. He took them on train trips to New Orleans and taught them to fish and boat at the family lake house. They adored him.

Don is survived by his beloved wife Barbara; his sons Kent and Steven, and their wives Denise and Jill; four beloved grandchildren, Evan and his wife Josie, Alec and his fiancé Sarah Segner, Sami, and Hutt; brother Marshall and sister Ruth Begley; daughter-in-law Mindy Douglas; and brother in laws Jack and Bobby DeLouche.

Don was well loved by everyone who met him and will be missed immensely.
