Debra Brewer Dennis, born January 24, 1954, in New Orleans, passed away peacefully August 23, 2025, at her home in Brandon after a brief illness. The beloved daughter of William and Bettie Jean Middleton of Vicksburg, Debbie lived in the Jackson Metro area for 52 years.
An exemplary nurse for 30+ years at UMMC, St Dominic Hospital, Baptist Hospital, and with Dr. John Purvis, her dedication and expertise earned her the distinction of Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR®).
In retirement Debbie directed her passion for life toward her precious grandchildren in thoroughly loving them, her doting husband and their many trips together, and with her beloved friends playing tennis, Bridge, and Mah-Jongg.
Debbie was a devoted member of St. Richard Catholic Church. Her warm and caring nature graced the lives of many, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Debbie leaves behind a loving family who cherished her deeply: her devoted husband, James Gary Dennis; her daughters, Dr. Rebecca Dennis Pitner (Nathan) of Mountain Brook AL, and Mandy Dennis Dickerson (Carter) of Madison; her stepdaughter, Julie Dennis Prellwitz (Cory) of Kearney NE; two brothers, Don E. Brewer, Jr. (Candace) of Callahan FL, and Paul Wade Brewer of Oak Ridge TN; and two sisters, Connie Tait and Melanie McNeil of Vicksburg. She was also a proud grandmother to eight cherished grandchildren: Sam Prellwitz of Kearney NE; Ben Prellwitz of Omaha NE; Sydney and Elliot Pitner of Mountain Brook AL; and Walt, Hayden, Violet, and Wyatt Claire Dickerson of Madison.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be September 6, 2025, 2 PM, Wright & Ferguson of Flowood. Friends and family may also visit between noon and 2 PM.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD) Foundation, 3634 W. Market Street Suite 110, Akron, OH.
