Debbie Lou Miller Shankster Schneider died on September 9, 2020, at the age of 67 at her home in Raymond, Mississippi.

Debbie was born in Mobile, Alabama on December 12, 1952, the daughter of Mae Olene Miller and the late Joseph Abraham Miller Jr. She grew up in Leakesville, Mississippi and attended Bridgewater College in Bridgewater, Virginia, and then Manchester College in North Manchester, Indiana, where she received her baccalaureate degree. She was a member of the honor society and graduated magna cum laude. Debbie also received a master's degree from Illinois State University. Debbie married Donald Shankster, with whom she had two children, Alexandra Leigh Shankster, and Jeremy Blake Shankster. Debbie was a gifted elementary school teacher who taught in North Carolina, Illinois, Indiana, Alabama, and Mississippi. She is a former Teacher of the Year.

Upon moving back to Mississippi, Debbie worked at a variety of retail businesses, including The Oriental Shoppe, Chico's, and Soft Surroundings and was well-known as an outstanding salesperson who cared deeply about her clients. On May 7, 2013, she married Russell Schneider of Raymond, and they enjoyed visiting and dining out with friends and family.

Debbie was pre-deceased by her father, Joseph Abraham Miller Jr. and her sister, Darlene Miller Hudson. She is survived by her husband, Russell Schneider; her children, Alexandra Shankster of Washington, D.C. and Jeremy Shankster of Las Vegas, Nevada; mother, Mae Olene Miller of Jackson, Mississippi; sister, Elizabeth Sprinz of Seattle, Washington; brother, Joseph A. Miller III of Hazlehurst, Mississippi, grandchildren, McKenna Elaine Milham Shankster, Karrington Elyse Milham Shankster, Faith Esquer, and Hope Esquer; nieces and nephews, Ingrid Sprinz , Lauren Sprinz, Joseph Miller IV and Madeline Miller; Amanda Hudson and Adam Hudson.

Debbie is a member of First Baptist Church of Jackson, Mississippi. Services will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2020, with a visitation time from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM and a memorial service immediately following at 1:00 PM. Both the visitation and memorial service will be held at Wright Ferguson Funeral Home in Raymond, Mississippi. Memorials may be made to Batson Children's Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi, or to a charity of your choice.
