David Miller Lowther, Jr., 90, passed away on January 16, 2019. Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, January 20, 2019 at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, January 21, 2019 at the funeral home with visitation at 1 p.m. before the service. Graveside services will follow at Lakewood South Memorial Park in Jackson.
David was born December 20, 1928 in Jackson, MS. He served in the army for 3 years. He went to work for South Central Bell where he worked for 34 years. He loved to play the steel guitar in a band called "Southern Serenaders." He loved coaching his son's baseball teams where they won many championships. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling with the Pioneer Camping Club, watching Ole Miss Football, fishing and loved to sing and dance. He was a deacon of First Baptist Church in Florence and sang in the senior adult choir.
David was preceded in death by his wife, Margret V. Lowther.
David is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Powell (Rickey); his son, David G. Lowther (Allison); his grandchildren, Chris Powell (Courtney), Stephanie Jordan (Daniel) and Austin Lowther; and three great grandchildren.
