Obituary

David T. Dockery, Jr., age 97, went home to be with The Lord on Friday, July 1, 2016.

David was born in Hernando, MS - February 26, 1919 to David T. Dockery, Sr. and Nancy Leverrette Dockery. He graduated from University of Mississippi - Ole Miss in 1941 with a degree in Business Administration.

David served in World War II in the Army Air Corps Chemical Warfare Division. After completing his service, he and wife Jean Somers moved to Jackson, MS. He worked for Thrasher Company for 30 years as an Architectural Hardware Consultant. After retiring he continued consulting Architects part time as a Hardware Consultant.

David was one of the founding members of Broadmoor Baptist Church in 1950 and a member for 63 years. After moving to Assisted Living in Clinton, MS he became a member of Pocahontas Baptist Church in 2012.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 37 years Jean Somers Dockery and brother Alfred Dockery.

He leaves his wife, Sue Nash Dockery; his son, David T. Dockery, III, his wife Mary, his daughter Gwin Dockery Wyatt, her husband Frank Wyatt, and their daughter Brooke. He is also survived by his step-children, Binford T. Nash, Jr. M.D., his wife Sandra, their children Amy and Benny; Clifton E. Nash, his wife Ellen, their children Tyler and Lee; and Trudy Nash Smith, her husband Chris E. Smith, M.D., their children Luke, Emily, and Sadie. Together with his wife, David has 8 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. with funeral service held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at Broadmoor Baptist Church, 1531 Highland Colony Pkwy, Madison, Mississippi, burial to follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.
