Obituary

Cyrus Benjamin "C. B." Carroll, 77, died peacefully on Thursday, August 8, 2024, in Jackson, surrounded by his loving family. C. B. was born in Jackson, attended Catholic schools, and graduated from St. Joseph High School. He studied at the University of Southern Mississippi and Belhaven College and served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1972.

C. B. was preceded in death by his mother, Sadie Duke Carroll; his father, Cyrus Benjamin Carroll, Sr.; and his sister, Sadie "B" Miazza.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanne Luckett of Jackson, sisters, Margaret Barrett Simon of Jackson, Alice Morrison of New Braunfels, Texas, and brother Jimmy Carroll of Richmond, Virginia.

Also surviving C. B. are his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren: his daughters, Jennifer Owens and her husband Bobby of Brandon, and Shelly Wightman and her husband Michael of Pearl; grandson, Conner Owens of Brandon; and granddaughters, Kayla Rayborn and Bryanna Weems of Pearl and Brooke Boudreaux and her husband Drew, and great-granddaughters, Charlotte Ray and Magnolia Mae of Brandon.

Other survivors are his stepson Robby Luckett of Jackson and his children, Silas, Hazel, and Flip Luckett, as well as the nieces and nephews of his sisters and brother.

C. B. began his career providing lighting services for news crews during the Civil Rights Movement. He followed in his father's footsteps as stage manager of the City Auditorium in Jackson and later at Thalia Mara Hall, serving as lighting director there until he retired in 2002. C. B. also ran a lighting and staging company that served concerts and other special events. He thoroughly enjoyed music and the performing arts.

C. B. loved National Parks and spent his happiest times hiking and camping. He climbed the Grand Teton peak at 13,770 feet in 1984 with his friend Raymond Gunn. He also explored many other sites with his family. C. B. was very proud of his Irish heritage and traveled to Ireland to celebrate it.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 13, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall at St. Peter Cathedral in Jackson. The Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, August 14, at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's followed by a reception in the Parish Hall.
