Clifton Monroe Mayfield, 94, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2015, at Hospice Ministries Facility in Ridgeland, MS. He was the son of Lewis and Isabel Mayfield born on March 31, 1921, in Mize Mississippi. Cliff grew up in Crystal Springs, MS.
After graduating high school, Cliff served in the U.S. Air Force as a staff sergeant based in Homestead, FL. After serving his country he graduated from Mississippi College in Business and later attended Banking School at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. Cliff worked in the banking community in the Clinton and Jackson area for over 20 years.
Cliff was a member of First Baptist Church in Clinton MS, where he served as a deacon and a greeter. He was also a member of the lions club, Kiwanis club, and the Jaycee organization throughout his business career. He loved his family very much. His hobbies were music, golf, and watching western TV programs and football. He touched the lives of many people in the community and will be missed very much.
Cliff was a proud father of three boys, five grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
Cliff was preceded in death by his son, Mike Mayfield.
Cliff is survived by his wife of sixty-three years of marriage, Ethelyn Mayfield of Clinton, MS; sons, Alan (Connie) of Ozark MO, and Jimmy (Stephanie) of Decatur AL; grandchildren, Daniel (Alissa), Nathan (Crystal), Amanda, Matthew (Meagan), and Stephen; great-grandchildren are Kenna, Kamryn, Carter, Ariel, Roman, and Jordan.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton, MS on Monday, November 2, 2015. A visitation will be held from 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Monday before the service.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift in his name may be made to the First Baptist Church music department.
