Obituary

Christopher "Chris" Carwin Barr passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at the age of 75 at his home in Raymond, Mississippi.

Mr. Barr was born on June 29, 1948. He was the second child and first son of Cedric and Loraine Barr. Chris lived a majority of his life in Columbus and Raymond, MS. After graduating from Raymond High School, he went on to earn a degree in Marketing Management from the University of Southern Mississippi. He and his former spouse, Margret Keifer Barr, married on December 25, 1975, and together had 4 children. An entrepreneur for most of his career, Chris owned and operated several successful businesses, such as American Window & Energy Products and National Tool Corporation.

Chris had many interests throughout his life. He especially enjoyed learning about engineering, space, & science and sharing his knowledge with others. Of his many passions, music was a staple in his life. He was a talented musician and was known for his exceptional skills with the guitar and bass. He played in several bands which allowed him various opportunities to travel around the country and play to many live, radio, and television audiences. He shared his love of music with everyone around him. He will be remembered as a proud father and grandfather who shared laughter, love, and music with his family.

Mr. Barr was preceded in death by his parents and his four siblings, Linda Lollar (Eddie) of Raymond, Bonny Smith (Kenny) of Hattiesburg, Steve Barr of Fort Davis, TX, and Cathy Lovett (Blayne) of Raymond; and his oldest child Christi Barr of Raymond.

He is survived by three children, Lori Voyles (Jason) of Raymond, Mark Barr (Kristy) of Golden, CO, and Don Barr of Denver, CO; four grandchildren, Connor Voyles, Asha Nieminen, Ethan Voyles, and Ainsley Voyles; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Barr will be honored by his family in a private visitation at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Raymond on May 1, 2024 from 5-7pm. A graveside ceremony for the immediate family will be held at the Raymond Cemetery on Thursday.
