Obituary

Chester Arthur "Art" Davey was born on March 13, 1934, the youngest of four children to Gerald and Isabelle Davey. He is predeceased by his parents, brothers, Donald and Frederick Davey, and his sister, Bethene Davey Stanley. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca "Becky" Marie Davey, and his five children, Paul Davey (his wife Cassandra), Amy Mauldon Bethene "Beth" Britt (her husband David Britt, departed), Barbara "Barbie" Sullivan Massey (her husband Jim), and Mark Davey (his wife Monique). He graduated from Macomber High School in Toledo, Ohio in 1952, enrolled at the University of Toledo that same year, and was employed by the City of Toledo, as a Civil Engineer designing roads and bridges. He married his wife of sixty-nine years, Becky, on June 12, 1954. They moved to Anderson, Indiana in 1956 so that Art could attend Anderson College, graduating in 1958, which would lead to a long career in Ministry. During his time as a Pastor, he worked on a Rescue Squad, as part of his commitment to save lives and souls, designed houses and Church buildings, and oversaw construction. He subsequently completed a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from Mississippi State University and began a new career as a counselor and later as a Tax Consultant. He loved the words of Sam Walter Foss, "Let me live in a house by the side of the road. And be a friend to man" and embodied, and applied, this principle in his everyday life. He was a kind and devoted husband, loving father, committed friend, who was loved and respected by many, and a faithful servant of God. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations, in his name, to Habitat for Humanity, at which he worked building houses for those in need, or to Riggs Manor in Raymond, MS, for the benefit of others, in the final years of life.
