Obituary

Charlotte Germany Evans, age 81, died on January 31, 2024, in Jackson, MS with her sons by her side.

Charlotte is survived by her son, Scott Evans, of Clinton, MS; her son, Chris Evans (Kathryn), of Clinton, MS; her grandchildren, Deaton and Ginny Evans; and her sister, Diann Nicholson, of Dixon, MS. She is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Carey Evans, of Clinton, MS; her father, Henry Obed Germany; and her mother, Obera Barfoot Germany, both of Union, MS.

Charlotte was born on March 25, 1942 in Union, MS, to parents Henry and Obera. She graduated from East Central Community College in Decatur, and briefly lived the life of a model when recruited after college. She soon realized that was not the life for her, and moved to Jackson, MS. Over the decades she worked for Lamar Life Insurance in downtown Jackson, MP&L, Josten's Photography as a photo retouch specialist, and the Mississippi Dental Association as an office manager.

She married Carey in 1968. They lived the rest of their lives in Clinton, MS, but spent much of their later years together visiting the mountains of North Carolina for several months at a time.

Charlotte grew up on a farm, and was a true farm girl. She loved being outside and traveling to new places. She was also a gentle and truly selfless soul. She always put others before herself. In addition to travel she enjoyed cooking big meals, working in the yard, and spending time with her family and friends. She was blessed with so many wonderful friends, and loved being involved with her Church family at First Baptist Church in Clinton. Nothing made her smile more than children, and she was most proud of her grandchildren.
