Obituary

Charlotte Ann Craig passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday, February 25, 2024. There will be a celebration of her life held at Fondren Presbyterian Church in Jackson, Mississippi, on Saturday, March 9, at 2 PM with visitation to follow.

Charlette was born on August 1, 1939, to Leland W. and Braddis D. Craig and moved to Jackson with her parents as a young teenager. She graduated from Murrah High School and entered Belhaven College where she received a Bachelor of Music with a major in piano and a minor in secondary education in 1962.

She enjoyed teaching piano in schools in Picayune and Jackson, as well as in her private studio. When she left St. Andrew's Episcopal School in Jackson, she retired to teaching solely in her studio.

Charlotte and her family joined Fondren Presbyterian Church in 1954 when she was 15 years old. She faithfully sang in the choir and may be the member with longest period of service. She was ordained as an elder in 1993 and served on the Session Board from 1993-1996. She was an active member of the Presbyterian Women through many years. She most recently began serving on the Worship Committee of the church. Her desire would be that "all who come behind will (me) find (me) faithful."

Keeping herself fit was especially important to her. She taught low impact exercise classes for many years and walked five miles a day. Cooking healthy dishes was part of her fitness plan also, and she liked to share her recipes with friends and family.

Reading was a favorite activity, not just a pastime, throughout her life. She used the local library on a regular basis and was happy to share with others what she had learned or experienced reading different books. Her selections embraced many genres.

Charlotte is preceded in death by her father and mother Leland W. and Braddis D. Craig. Survivors include cousins Jo Whitten May of Moorsville, NC; Marion D. Duncan, Starkville, MS; and Mary Barron Jordan, Taylorsville, MS.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fondren Presbyterian Church, 3220 Old Canton Road, Jackson, MS 39216, or Mission Haven, 235 Inman Drive, Decatur, GA 30030.
