Charlotte Blake, 90, was born Dec. 18, 1924, and passed away July 12, 2015 to go home to her Lord and Savior.
Charlotte was born in Narberth, Penn. to parents Ralph and Mabel Claypoole of Paoli who had five children – Kenneth, Howard, Ralph Jr., Betty, and Charlotte (all deceased).She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Charlotte and husband Edward Blake Sr. (deceased) were married 62 years and lived in the Jackson area. Together, they operated the Springdale Hills Christmas Tree Farm near Pocahontas; the state's first choose-and-cut tree farm.
Their five children include: Edward Jr. deceased (Marilyn) Blake of Hattiesburg; Judy Blake (Frank) Barnett of Cato; Wendy Blake (Buddy) Reddick of Terry; Cary (Pamela) Blake, Gilbert, Ariz.; and Andy (Vicki) Blake, Madison.
Charlotte and Edward were very proud that their children graduated from college (Mississippi State University).
The nine grandchildren include: Matt Moore, Ben (Teri) Blake; Chase (Greta) Sinquefield; Bethany (Tony) Hill; Laura (Charles) Boyd; Blake (Amy) Barnett; Wesley Blake; Kendra Blake; Harper Blake.
The 10 great-grandchildren include: Benjamin Blake II; Mary Jan Blake; Lila Belle Sinquefield; Cullen Hill; Taylor Hill; Lizbeth Boyd; Fenex Boyd; Sam Mead; Nellie Barnett; Sophia Barnett.
Charlotte loved being a mother and was very proud of her family. She loved her church, Pocahontas Baptist Church, where she played the organ and taught Sunday school. She was also a Brownie, Girl Scout, and day-camp leader.
She loved animals and worked 12 years as a receptionist at Durr Animal Clinic in Clinton, where clients called her 'Dr. Blake.' She loved nature and enjoyed working at Callaway Gardens in Jackson.
